Intern Story – Ryan Ebert

A student from University of Missouri, Columbia, Ryan was happy to take on the role of Hotel Intern. Majoring in Hospitality Management, with an emphasis in Hotel and Lodging and a minor in Business, Ryan was a great fit! Ryan spent a lot of his time as a Front Desk Supervisor managing guest satisfaction and motivating employees. Ryan also spent time with the behind the scenes action of the Hotel, taking care of paperwork and assisting with logistics. Additionally, Ryan collaborated on a project analysis assignment with 3 of the other interns which they then presented to the leadership team of the property.

During his tenure at Hollywood Casino, Ryan has enjoyed seeing his hard-work and customer service oriented leadership style pay off with increased guest service scores. Ryan found himself attracted to the property after speaking with Tamara, an HR Generalist, during the University of Missouri career fair. Hollywood’s large facility and capacity made it an ideal choice to learn the hospitality industry. Ryan recommends that the next Hotel Intern “find a strong mentor, ask questions, and be prepared for challenging but rewarding days!” Ryan’s biggest takeaway is his strong ability to “multi-task, with a smile!” We want to thank Ryan for his experience at Hollywood Casino, and wish him the best of luck in the continuance of his studies!

Intern Story – Nathan Klump

An Agri-Business Management major from University of Missouri, Columbia, at first glance Nate seemed like an unlikely candidate for the Hotel intern position. However, Nate’s drive to learn strong customer service skills and create impactful change made him an excellent choice. An average day for Nate involved heavy handling as a Front Desk Supervisor, providing guidance to other team members and stepping in to handle situations as they arose. Nate also helped guide daily ACES customer service trainings during pre-shifts, enhanced communication with social networking apps and scheduling improvements and collaborated on a project analysis assignment with three other interns, which was later presented to the leadership team of the property.

His favorite memory at the property was working the Jimmy Buffett concert night. “The team really pulled together, it was a lot of fun to work!” Nate found himself attracted to the opportunity after visiting his school’s career fair and talking with the recruiters. “They were really personable, and I later on started up an email thread with Karen [HR Recruiter] which convinced me to apply.” His advice for future Interns is to “Keep an open mind, I did that being an outside major, and I still learned a lot!” We want to thank Nate for his experience at Hollywood Casino, and wish him the best of luck in the continuance of his studies!
