Final Cut Manager, Jason Portman, is taking us around the world this week on What’s Cookin’ @ Hollywood to try some of the premium whiskeys available at Final Cut Steakhouse! Our journey begins in Ireland with the Knappogue 14-year twin wood aged Irish Whiskey! This triple distilled whiskey is filtered and aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks for an incredibly smooth taste. Jason recommends cutting the Knappogue with a little bit of water to bring out the true flavors of the whiskey.

Next, from Canada comes the Crown Royal whiskey! Originally created as a gift for the King and Queen of England, the first ever reigning monarchs to visit Canada, this sweeter whiskey has a much cleaner and shorter finish that makes it a great sipping whiskey.

For our only bourbon on this episode, Jason show us the exclusive Blanton’s American Whiskey! In order for a whiskey to be considered a bourbon, it must be made with at least 51% corn, distilled at less than 160 proof, bottled at less than 125 proof, and made in the United States. Blanton’s has a long reputation as the finest single batch bourbon in the world due to Colonel Blanton’s innovative “center-cut” method of choosing only the best middle sections of his best warehouse for aging his bourbons. Because of this tradition, Blanton’s American Whiskey is incredibly difficult to find, but we have it available here at Final Cut Steakhouse! The strong caramel taste is apparent in the wonderful aroma and body, and it has a definite lingering taste that will last throughout your meal!

For our final whiskey, Jason Portman ends our journey at the infamous island of Islay in Scotland for the Lagavulin 16 year Scotch whiskey. The Scottish are believed to have first invented whiskey in the 1100s for either medicinal or religious purposes, and the distilleries of Lagavulin have been perfecting their distillation process since the early 1800s to create the distinctive smokey peaty flavor apparent in each Lagavulin bottle. The two long distillation processes are what give the Lagavulin it’s unique flavor and aroma that are sought after around the world.

Come on in and try our four elite whiskeys from around the world or any of our other many whiskey options for yourself at Final Cut Steakhouse in Hollywood Casino St. Louis!
